2What the figures can carry

Each share describes the people who sat in that period, so it moves with who sat, including how many were repeat candidates. BPS prints first-time candidates on their own row, and that row is the closer comparison if this is your first attempt.

Searches for BCPS exam difficulty often land on pages that turn these numbers into a verdict. BPS publishes no difficulty rating. The standard is a scaled 500, criterion-referenced and equated across forms (BPS Examination Scoring), so a year with a smaller share passing does not mean the bar moved. The mechanics are on the BCPS passing score page.

The 2025 recertification row (66.8%) covers certificants sitting the recertification exam, a different group, and says nothing about first attempts.

A failed attempt has a cost too: the retake application is $300 if you failed within the past year (BPS fees page). Every other fee is on BCPS exam cost, and the attempt limits are on the BCPS retake policy page.
